Tommy Tham is an Enterprise Fellow at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. He has a background in mechanical engineering and strong expertise in data analytics, automation and applied AI. His work focuses on helping research create practical impact, particularly through digital tools, cross-sector collaboration and innovation-led projects. He is especially interested in robotics, sustainability and the use of technology to address real-world challenges.
Across his academic and professional work, Tommy has contributed to projects spanning software development, environmental monitoring and engineering design. His experience includes work on sustainable technologies such as wind turbine development, where he applied data-driven methods to improve efficiency with novel techniques. He has also worked on air quality monitoring and environmental data platforms, helping to translate technical data into accessible tools for analysis and influencing policies. Alongside this, he has developed a retrieval-augmented generation systems and the fine-tuning of large language models for domain-specific applications, particularly climate change where AI can improve how technical knowledge is organised and used.
