Dr Mihaela Paun is a Lecturer in Statistics in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and an Honorary Research Associate in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Glasgow, UK. Prior to joining ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, she was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Glasgow. Her research interests include Bayesian uncertainty quantification, statistical inference and emulation for mechanistic models and digital twins.
Mihaela's current research focuses on statistical inference and uncertainty quantification in physics-driven models using machine learning techniques and computational statistics. Her work is motivated by real-world applications, and most of her contributions have been in healthcare modelling.
Mihaela is currently teaching the Master course "Machine learning" at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ.
Mihaela obtained her PhD in 2020 from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK. She then held a postdoctoral position in the same school at the University of Glasgow. In 2025 she became a Lecturer in Statistics in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ.
