Hansani is a PhD researcher in Environmental Engineering at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. Her research interests lie in environmental microbiology and wastewater treatment, with a focus on improving the sustainability and efficiency of biological treatment processes.

Hansani obtained her first degree, a BSc (Special) in Microbiology, from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, in 2017, and completed her MSc in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology at the University of South Wales, UK, in 2023. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Environmental Engineering at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, UK. Her doctoral research focuses on bioaugmentation strategies to enhance biological nutrient removal in wastewater treatment systems, with particular emphasis on aerobic granulation to improve process stability and efficiency.
