Jia Wang is a Postgraduate Researcher at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Education School, supported by funding from the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC). Her current research focuses on teachers’ professional development in an era of rapid educational changes (in particular, GenAI).
Prior to her PhD pursuits, Jia earned her Master's in TESOL with Distinction and a Postgraduate Advantage Award from the University of Nottingham, UK. She subsequently obtained her Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from Cambridge Language Assessment.
Professionally, Jia worked as an English teacher specializing in gaokao preparation at a Chinese public secondary school. As a member of the provincial assessment team, she was also involved in large-scale exam design and piloting for the English subject. In 2019, she dedicated herself to supporting adult immigrants and refugees with additional language learning needs in the Nottingham area, UK. In addition, Jia worked for Ministry of National Development and Reform Commission, China, collating with Bangladeshi government officials and cooperated companies.
