Martin is a Lecturer in Banking and Finance at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Business School (SBS), ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. He lectures in the subject areas of Econometrics and Quantitative Finance.
Martin is the Director of Studies of MSc Finance and Investment. He is also a Deputy Chair of the Business and Law Ethics Committee.
Martin’s main research interests are empirically oriented and lie at the intersection of macroeconomics, specifically, in commodity markets, international trade, and the development of the stock and security markets, including digital currency trading. He is also interested in research fields of corporate governance and tourism.
Martin is interested in supervising PhD students in topics related to applied macroeconomics, corporate governance, mixed-frequency modelling, volatility modelling, and tourism economics.
Martin is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He is also External Examiner at the Advance HE and has been recognised with Newcastle Teaching Award in 2019. He currently teaches on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including:

Martin joined ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Business School (SBS) in August 2022. He holds PhD in Economics from Newcastle University. He also worked within the financial and engineering industries for four years.
Prior to joining SBS, Martin worked as a Lecturer in Economics at the Royal Holloway University of London, Queen Mary University of London, Newcastle University, Visiting Lecturer at City University of London and Portsmouth University.
