Dr Adam Dale is an Associate Professor in Infectious Dieases and Medical Microbiology working in the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ Controlled Human Infection Group (CHIG). He is also an Honorary Consultant at University Hospital ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ, specialising in the management of transplant-associated infections.   

Working as a principal investigator within ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ CHIG, Dr Dale's research is focused on the following themes: 

(1) Understanding the immunological mechanisms that afford protection against respiratory tract pathobionts, e.g. Neisseria meningitis and Bordetella pertussis.                                

(2) Development of new experimental tools to assess adaptive immune responses at mucosal surfaces, with particular reference to the upper respiratory tract.

(3) Utilising controlled human infection models to develop and test new vaccines.
