Student satisfaction

The National Student Survey (NSS) gathers feedback from mainly final-year undergraduates about their time in UK universities. Highlights from our NSS 2026 results show that of students surveyed:

  • 87.9% are happy with the teaching on their course
  • 84.1 responded positively to questions about the learning opportunities available
  • 89.3% praised the academic support on offer
  • Positive feedback about mental wellbeing services increased to 86.4%
  • Almost 80% said they felt their voices mattered
  • 89.4% said that freedom of expression was respected
  • 81.5% believe the Students鈥 Union represents their academic interests

Research and innovation excellence

We are a research-intensive university, with continued substantial growth in research funding and seventh in the UK for the total value of grants. We are also a founding partner of SETsquared, the university business incubator ranked number one in the world by UBI Global.
