Professional Experience
Throughout her academic career, Dr Li has developed extensive experience in interdisciplinary research, international collaboration, research management, stakeholder engagement, and the preparation of competitive funding proposals. She has worked closely with universities, industry, and government organisations across the UK, Europe, and Asia, supporting collaborative research in maritime engineering, transportation systems, digitalisation, and sustainable technologies.
International Collaboration
Dr Li has played an active role in several international collaborative research initiatives, including projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC) under Horizon Europe and the Royal Society International Exchanges scheme. She has contributed to project coordination, international collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and interdisciplinary research, working closely with academic institutions, industrial partners, and government organisations across the UK, Europe, and Asia.

Research Supervision
Dr Li welcomes enquiries from prospective PhD and MPhil students whose research interests align with her expertise in maritime engineering, autonomous and intelligent shipping, maritime safety and security, artificial intelligence, transportation systems, and sustainable maritime transport.
- At Liverpool John Moores University, co-supervised 2 PhD students and 1 MSc dissertation to successful completion. Provided research mentoring to 6 international visiting researchers, supporting collaborative research and academic publications.
- Currently co-supervising 2 PhD candidates and co-mentoring 1 postdoctoral researcher.
- Provided substantial research mentoring to 2 additional PhD researchers, contributing to their research and peer-reviewed publications as a co-corresponding author.
