The National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) have launched their annual , which is a unique opportunity for students and researchers to look at creative ways of showcasing their work – and also for members of the public, budding artists and photographers to explore biofilms in their everyday environments.

Amazon gift cards will be awarded to first (£500), second (£250) and third (£125) place in each category (photography and art).

Biofilms are central to our most important global challenges – from infections, antimicrobial resistance and food safety to water security, marine biofouling and corrosion and exert significant economic, social and environmental impacts estimated at $5 trillion per annum. The competition forms part of NBIC’s , which works to raise awareness of the global impact of biofilms.
The competition is now open and will run until 17:00 UK time on Friday 18 October 2024.
