The University has welcomed the news that Datin Ir Dr Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir has been appointed as the new Director-General of Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).
Dr Siti, a strong supporter of the University, served as Deputy Director-General of the MOHE from 2009. Previously, she was Malaysia’s Deputy Director-General of private education.

An accomplished engineer and academic, Dr Siti was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree by ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ last July in honour of her many contributions to Malaysian higher education, particularly her role in spearheading a nationwide programme called the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint 2015-2025, which aimed to transform education policies.
The honour also reflected our University’s strong links with Malaysia which is home to ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Malaysia Campus (USMC), located in EduCity, Johor Bahru.
Professor John McBride, Chief Executive Officer of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Malaysia Campus, said:
Our congratulations to Dr Siti on her appointment as Director-General. We are grateful for Dr Siti’s great support in helping the University become well-established in Malaysia and look forward to continuing our relationship with her and the Ministry for the foreseeable future.
