We are looking forward to seeing you at the Christmas Lights Switch On event today (Tuesday 22 November).

Below you’ll find all the information you need ahead of the event.
Schedule:
FromÌý16:00 – visit the Christmas market to stock up on your Christmas presents and soak up the atmosphere with music from the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ Brass Band.
´¡³ÙÌý18:00 the lights will be switched on by President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, accompanied by Emma Real-Davies and Tom Deacon from Capital FM.
The market will remain open until 19:00, following this The Bridge and The Stag’s will have a selection of live music to keep you entertained until late.
- What refreshments will be on offer?
If you pre-registered for a complimentary drink you will be able to exchange your Eventbrite ticket for a glass of mulled wine or mulled cider fromÌý16:00 in either The Bridge, The Stag’s or either of the two Outside Bars – one in the Redbrick Square and one on the crescent outside of the staff club (Building 38). Please note you will be asked to provide a University ID card.
Once your ticket has been successfully scanned you will be given a token to exchange for your drink.
The Bridge and The Stag’s will also be operating as cash-bars until late.
The Piazza will be open until 18:30 and there will be a selection of festive food stalls within the Christmas Market.
- Dress code:
This year the lights will be switched-on from the balcony of Building 40. Because of this, we recommend you wear appropriate footwear due to poor conditions, particularly on the grass.
There is also a promise of snow, so make sure you wrap up warmly!
- Children:
This event is for the staff and students of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ. Due to the high number of expected guests, children are not permitted to attend this event.
So that everyone has a chance to enjoy the festive decorations, there will be a separate families day celebration held on 12 December. for further details and to register for the Family Christmas event.
- Photography:
Please note that the University photographer will be taking photographs at this event for use by the University in print and web publications.
- Don’t forget:
Your ticket! You won’t able to claim your free drink without it. Either print a copy or have the QR code available on your smart phone for scanning. You will also need your University staff/student ID.
Remember to bring some spending money for the market, or for further drinks.
