The ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ has consolidated its position amongst the UK’s top 15 institutions by placing 14th overall in the 2016 Guardian University Guide. The climb of five places from last year follows ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s rise to 14th in the recent table published by the .
The University is also celebrating after achieving two number one ratings in The Guardian’s subject tables. ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ returns to the top spot for Electrical and Electronic Engineering – the fifth time in seven years the University has led this table. ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ also comes first for Media and Film Studies, rising from 9th last year.
In terms of subject rankings, we’ve scored the following top 10 finishes:
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2nd last year) and Media & Film Studies (9th last year) – both 1st
- Education – 3rd (up 7 places from last year)
- Civil Engineering – 4th (up 1 place from last year)
- Mechanical Engineering – 4th (down 2 places from last year, 11th consecutive year for Mech Eng in top 10 in the Guardian)
- English & Creative Writing – 5th (up 5 places from last year and up from 19th the previous year)
- Computer Science & Information Systems – 7th (up 1 place from last year)
- Modern Languages & Linguistics – 8th (10th consecutive year in top 10 in the Guardian)
- Fashion & Textiles – 8th (up one place from last year – made a large jump in last year’s table from 25th to 9th)
- Philosophy – 8th (up 10 places from last year)
- Health Professions – 10th (up 7 places from last year)
- Music – 10th (up 10 places from last year)
- Psychology – 10th (up 3 places from last year)
