In an emergency
If there is an immediate risk to life, such as a medical emergency or if a crime is ongoing,Ìýalways call 999Ìýfor immediate help.ÌýYou can make a report online or call the police on 101 in non-emergency situations.Ìý
When you need medical advice, but it is not a 999 emergency, online or call 111. When you phone 111, your call is handled by an advisor who can guide you on what treatment you need. If the advisor believes that you need an ambulance, they will arrange one for you. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from both landlines and mobile phones.
24/7 wellbeing supportÌý
If you need wellbeing support, help is available 24/7 by email or by calling 02380 599 599. You can also speak to the Student Wellbeing team in person at the Student Hub in B37, Highfield Campus.
Student safetyÌý
For support and advice on how to keep safe whilst at University, you can visit our for official and reliable information from the Police and other organisations.Ìý
It has tips on identifying and reporting scams targeting students, and how to report incidents of crime and harassment. If something doesn't feel right, you can speak to The Student Hub or use our platform.
Academic support
The University offers a number of ways to support students in their academic life:
Personal Academic Tutor
One of the most important people you will meet while you are a student is your Personal Academic Tutor who will be allocated to you on your arrival at the University and who is normally a member of academic staff in your own or a closely related subject area. Your Personal Academic Tutor will offer one-to-one support and advice throughout your time at university and will support you in your studies.

The SUSU Advice Centre
