Delay in Funding SupportÌý

Delay in Funding Support is designed to help undergraduate students who are experiencing a delay in receiving their maintenance loan from Student Finance (UK) and/or the NHS Bursary. The Financial Support Team may be able provide you with some financial support in the form of supermarket vouchers until you receive your first payment.Ìý

Applications for Delay in Funding Support will be acceptedÌýMonday 14 September 9AM – Sunday 11 October 11:59PM.

Eligibility criteriaÌý

Applicants must:Ìý

  • be currently enrolledÌý
  • be attending universityÌý
  • on an undergraduate or undergraduate-funded course (eg BM4, PGCE)Ìý
  • meet the eligibility criteria for a maintenance loan from Student Finance (UK) and/or the NHS bursaryÌý
  • have submitted an application to Student Finance (UK) and/or the NHS BursaryÌý

Students are expected to be in current hardship and without any significant savings when they apply. Your request for financial support can be refused if a high level of savings is available to you. The savings should be used before an application is made.ÌýÌýÌý

ApplicationsÌý

Applications for Delay in Funding Support will be accepted Monday 14 September 9AM – Sunday 11 October 11:59PM.Ìý

On average the form takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Once an application is received, an advisor will be in touch within 2 working days with either an assessment update or outcome.Ìý

You will also need to submit one month of bank statements for all current/savings/investment accounts in your name. This includes ISAs and crypto accounts. Statements must be submitted as PDFs rather than screenshots, JPEGs or PNGs.Ìý

Things to noteÌý

Do you have an upcoming rent payment?Ìý
Delay in Funding support is not available to cover rent. If you are in university accommodation, please contact the Student Hub at studenthub@soton.ac.ukÌý to explain your situation.

If you are in private rented accommodation, we recommend you speak with your landlord. If you need a letter confirming your situation then please email stufunds@soton.ac.uk.Ìý

Have you made use of an interest-free, fee-free overdraft? Ìý
Student bank accounts with interest-free overdrafts are typically available to all Home/UK students. More information can be found at .ÌýÌý

Are you seeking longer-term financial support?Ìý
The Financial Support Team administer the Student Support Fund, which provides support to those students who find themselves struggling financially. The Semester 1 Student Support Fund will open mid-October, and details can be found here.Ìý

Award informationÌý

Delay in Funding Support awards are intended to help you with essential food and incidental costs for a short period of time, typically 1-4 weeks.Ìý

Awards are in the form of Tesco or Sainsbury's supermarket vouchers. The voucher amount will be based on when you are likely to receive your Student Finance (UK)/NHS bursary funding.ÌýÌý

Delay in Funding Support awards »å´Ç n´Ç³Ù include cash payments or help with rent.Ìý

Applications are reviewed in line with Student Support Fund guidelines. Awards are discretionary, and we cannot guarantee one will be granted.ÌýÌý
