A special consideration is an exceptional circumstances outside of a student’s control, that have or will have a negative effect on their performance in a recent or upcoming assessment (including an exam) or on their ability to meet a deadline for submission of an assessment or to sit an exam.
A request for special consideration is governed by the Regulations Governing Special Consideration (including Deadline Extension Requests) for all Taught Programmes and Taught Assessed Components of Research Degrees .
Students are usually expected to be available for scheduled assessments during exam periods.Ìý In exceptional cases, a student will request that a scheduled assessment is rearranged or that alternative arrangements are made so they can attend another event or activity.Ìý The Ìýsets out agreed policy for specific individuals or groups and provides guidance on managing requests in other circumstances.Ìý
This form can be used by undergraduate and postgraduate taught students to submit an application for special consideration.
This form can be used to request an extension to an assessment deadline. ÌýIn advance of the due date, if circumstances outside the control of the student have impacted their ability to meet the due date, they may request an extension.
