
Professor Jane Falkingham - Chair
Professor Jane Falkingham is Vice-President Engagement and International, Professor of Demography and International Social Policy, and Director of the ESRC Centre for Population Change.
Our Strategy Board offers strategic guidance, depth and networking potential inside the University, as well as within government, the civil service and civil society.
Members are drawn from across the University and use their skills, expertise and experience to help Public Policy|¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ (PPS) achieve its strategic aims of enhancing sub-national, national and international public policy impact conducted by University researchers.
The Board meets quarterly and is responsible for setting the overall strategy and assessing the effectiveness of PPS, ensuring its activities are fully integrated into the University’s 10 year plan, research and enterprise strategy, education and international strategy, sustainability strategy and civil university strategy.

Professor Mark Spearing is Vice President, Research and Enterprise, at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ. He has also served as interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ.

Dame Judith Macgregor was British High Commissioner to South Africa from September 2013 until March 2017 when she retired from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Professor John Denham is the Director of the Centre for English Identity and Politics. He also served as Labour MP for ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ Itchen and later as a Minister for 10 years in the 1997-2010 Government.

Professor AbuBakr Bahaj (FICE, FIET, FRSA, MInstP, CPhys) is a Professor of Sustainable Energy at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ. He leads the 55-strong Energy and Climate Change Divison at the University.

Professor Mark Hanson is British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiovascular Science at the University, and ex-President of the International Society for Developmental Origins of Health and Disease.

Professor Nicky Marsh is a Professor of English at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ and the Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise.

Dr Lorna Colquhoun is Director of Research and Innovation Services at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ.

Dr Dianna Smith is a Lecturer in GIS and health geography within Geography and Environmental Science at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ.

Professor Nisreen Alwan is an Associate Professor in Public Health at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ and an Honorary Consultant in Public Health at University Hospital ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµ NHS Foundation Trust.
