Your referee comments will play an important role in evaluating the applicant’s standing in their field, and their readiness for promotion.
The University is committed to applying the highest standards in its internal academic promotion procedures. We expect the successful candidates to be of a standard equivalent to those appointed through external advertisement in terms of national and/or international distinction in their field.
We seek reference reports promotions to the Professoriate (Level 7 at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ) and occassionally to Associate Professor (Level 6) or equivalent.
Assessment Criteria
The academic promotion process applies to all levels and pathways within the University's Education, Research and Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise (ERE) job family. There are four different pathways within the ERE framework; these being, Balanced, Education, Research, and Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise pathways, and are built on four key areas of contribution.

The process provides a fair and equitable method of assessment which should encourage a diverse range of candidates. It enables flexibility in assessment in order that the various ways in which staff contribute to the University's vision and strategic goals can be rewarded on the basis of consistently applied standards.
Professor Contribution Descriptors (Level 7)
Level 6 Contribution Descriptors - applicable to Associate Professor and Principal Teaching, Research or Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Fellows.
These are the same descriptors irrespective of pathway or academic portfolio split. The applicants portfolio split can be found towards the start of their application, included within the link contained in your personal email, which indicates where their focus on contribution and achivement is likely to be.
