The Transition Programme is for disabled and neurodivergent students starting at the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ in the new academic year including students with long-term health conditions, mental health conditions and specific learning differences.
Our Transition Programme 2026 incorporates some key resources and activities to help ease your transition to university life, help you to access tailored support and ensure that support arrangements are in placeÌýas you begin your studies.Ìý

Overview: in a self-guided photo tour, you can viewÌýHartley Library to familiarise you with the layout and the different kinds of study spaces available. The tour also includes information about the Help Desk, the Tech Hub, the Academic Skills Hub and the 'click and collect' areas within the building.Ìý

Over the Welcome weekend (Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September), once you arrive on Campus, there are a number of fun activities taking place.Ìý
Please note that Welcome Weekend is running at the same time as a popular music event in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ:Ìý. As part of this, on Saturday 12 September, there will be a music stage outside Building 40, Garden Court. Sound checks start from 13:00 and live music will begin from 14:00, where artists will be coming in from outside of Campus.Ìý
On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, the Student Disability and Inclusion Team will be available in Ìýin the John Roberts Room fromÌý10:00 - 16:00.

You can also get involved in some arts and crafts activities such as mindful colouring and painting. We will also have sensory aids available for loan, should you need a quieter and more comfortable experience.
You can find us in the John Roberts Room, within the Staff Social Centre (Building 38) - use the to navigate your way. Once you reach the Staff Social Centre, use this building 38 floor plan to find the John Roberts Room.
Alternatively, a member of the Student Disability and Inclusion Team will be available at the Information Point outside of on both days, if anyone would like assistance with visiting us in the John Roberts Room. Staff will be holding a blue paddle with 'transition event' written on it.
During freshers' week (Monday 14 - Sunday 20 September), SUSU will be hosting a number of fairs for first-year students to get involved in. You will need to book your place for each fair that you're interested in attending:
For each fair, the first hour is usually a less busy time to attend, and music levels will be lower during this first hour, so it should be a calmer and quieter experience.Ìý
If you would prefer a calmer start to each fair, please arrive at the redbrick area outside of The Student Union (Building 42) 10 minutes before each fair starts. There, you can meet members of SUSU and Student Disability and Inclusion who will:

Overview: The Student Disability and Inclusion team are hosting an informal event for disabled and neurodivergent students to meet peers as they embark on their university journey together. There will be craft activities and board games. Tea, coffee and some snacks will be provided. Students will also have the opportunity to speak to some of our current studentsÌýabout their time atÌýthe ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵÌýsoÌýfar.
Duration: This event will last 2 hours.
Group size: Maximum of 25 attendees.
